Mama's Boys came from a long tradition of classic hard rock bands in Ireland: Taste, Skid Row, Thin Lizzy to U2. Formed by the McManus brothers they were an exciting live act in the eighties but tragedy struck when brother Tommy was diagnosed with leukaemia. This reissued album was recorded in 1992 prior to his untimely death. After this release, the band's fortunes faded. Pat and John McManus took a year out and then reinvented themselves as Celtus, enjoying great success and critical acclaim.

This CD is a great document of their earlier incarnation and is supplemented with live bonus tracks recorded during November/December 1990. Mama's Boys were closer to American AOR than many of their UK contemporaries. Whilst this CD has shades of Foreigner and early Montrose it will also intrigue followers of Celtus. The accent on melodic invention, with Irish motifs and acoustic instrumentation present on some of the tracks, will be strangely familiar.
