BBC Friday Rock Show 27.3.80 Interview with Ian Gillan - If You Believe Me

This incredible double CD collects the best of Gillan at the BBC, recorded during the period 1979-80 when arguably the band produced their finest work. Starting with their appearance at the Reading Rock Festival in 1979, the first CD also includes a rare interview with Ian Gillan and a BBC In Concert recorded in September 1979.The contrast between the two CDs could not be greater: on CD2 only two songs were retained from the previous set, the rest came from the current album "Glory Road".

Ian Gillan formed Gillan  some five years after his departure from Deep Purple. In the intervening period he had fronted the Ian Gillan Band, who also feature on two Angel Air releases ("The Rockfield Mixes" and "Live At The Rainbow"). The classic Gillan line-up featured Bernie Torme on guitar and Mick Underwood on drums, together with Ian Gillan, John McCoy on bass and Colin Towns on keyboards.

By the end of 1982, with a further line-up change (now with guitarist Janick Gers), the band were to play their last concert. This Angel Air set perfectly demonstrates why Gillan were such a compelling live act. Play at maximum volume and enjoy!
